This is an amazing miter saw, yes it's Expensive, but it's festool, and your paying for lifelong quality. I have tried to use other miter saws since but none of them are of the same quality, I would highly recommend this to anyone. (Posted on 1/24/2017)

Festool Kapex is really pushing the envelope here on sliding compound saw design, in fact IMHO the only improvements even possible on this saw would be a more visible laser in the daylight (if thats legal) and if the fine tune adjustment idea on the bevel could somehow be built into the mitre then I would say its game over there would be no further need to improve anything on this incredible saw….that being said its just fine the way it is waaaaay better than anything out there by a lot. I had this saw a couple years ago and loved it. I have used MANY other brands of saws and have been searching for the perfect miter saw, this is it (almost)! I ended up selling my last one to try other saws. The only, ONLY thing I could ask more from this saw is a slightly (like 1/8") larger height cut capacity. I ended up trying some 12" miter saws that inevitable gave me my wish in regards to the cut capacity, however, they did not deliver in ALL the other areas that the KAPEX does. After having it, selling it, and trying others, I can say with absolute certainty that this is the most accurate and true cutting miter saw ever. I missed it a great deal and can't wait to have it back. I can live with the slight drawback of a 10" miter saw! (Posted on 5/2/2016)

I've owned Many mitersaw so over the years dewalt has been favored over most well it came time to upgrade again after recently dipping my to in the festool waters figured I'd give the kapex a shot it is really pricey but the finish carpentry work I'm starting to do more of leaves no room for error...luckily the kapex leaves none either once set up properly (by that I meant one side of the laser needed to be adjusted) it's been an absolute dream I should have gotten one years ago. I am little annoyed by the arbor size but it seems most quality blade manufacturers make a good blade for it in the end wish it was cheaper but not enough to scare me away love the saw (Posted on 3/13/2016)

First off I am new to Festool. I am not a professional carpenter, I am just you average do-it-yourselfer homeowner. When I first bought tools I looked for sales and ended up with many mediocre and often dangerous tools. Then I saw a Kapex and everything changed. This saw is a precise instrument in a world of cheep plastic junk. With the dual lasers I know exactly where I am cutting. The bevel gauge is perfect. The caw cuts clean and crisp. Unless you have suffered though the cheep compound saws with their wobbly angle guides it is hard to express just how nice the Kapex is. It does have some flaws, the miter gauge gets in the way when you cut some wide angles ans does the fence and the hold down clamp. But these are all easily removable, not a big problem. And the dust extraction is not 100%. But that is perhaps not even possible, but when paired with my ct-26 vac it is very very good. I work in the basement and as an enclosed space dust is an issue so the Festool system is very impressive. I also own the Kapex MFT stand which works great since you can use the regular MFT as a in-feed/out-feed table. Over all this saw is the reason I bought into the Festool system and I love using it every time! (Posted on 11/19/2015)
If you value precision, clean cuts, little dust...then go for it. Review by Shaun

I held off on buying this saw to replace an aging DeWalt...until I finally decided that the dust collection (hooked up to my Festool CT-36) and precision were worth the premium. The ease of use in having repeatable, dial-in adjustment for bevel...lasers...and combining it with the Festool UG-Set cart with extensions makes this a easy to setup saw for the job site or shop. Many things are intuitive...but some are not without reading the manual...such as the miter lock has not only a depress-able button to release the miter brake...but you have to pivot the whole lever up/down to lock/unlock...so read the manual. I still have some dust left...but a very small amount - even when using a larger hose to my CT. (Posted on 9/28/2015)

If you do some research you will find that The Kapex miter saw is the best value for the money. It is very accurate out of the box, adapts well to changes in material and has a pretty good cross cut. changing compound angles is very easy and very reliable in terms of accuracy. So easy to use and rely on. (Posted on 9/26/2015)
Believe the Hype! Review by Adam

I was skeptical when buying this, since I had a perfectly functional Dewalt 12" double-bevel saw. However, with the recent promotion I couldn't resist. I got the Kapex along with the MFT stand and used my CT36 with largeer-diameter hose for dust collection.

Out of the box, the saw cut square and very smoothly. The lasers aren't quite precisely aligned, especially to the right of the blade. The included hold-down is great - I ended up buying a second to save the trouble of swapping it from side to side depending on the cut. Dust collection is phenomenal and this alone totally justified the upgrade over the Dewalt. I could cut all day and still not have the amount of dust created by just a couple dozen cuts with the Dewalt. This is tremendously important in my small shop as it tends to get messy in a hurry when using tools that don't have strong dust collection! (Also, the saw has a smaller footprint than my Dewalt but still has sufficient cutting capacity for my needs.)

I've not yet had a chance to use the included Miterfast angle transfer device, but since I'm looking to redo some trim in my house in the near future I'm sure it will come in handy.

In summary, while the initial price of the saw is a tough pill to swallow, I don't regret it in the least.

I have been using my Kapex miter saw for the past 3 weeks. It performs nearly perfectly right out of the box! Dust control is excellent. Not earout even with 1/4 in plywood. My only negative is the dual laser. It does not outline the exact cut line as described-the two laser lines are actually wider than the saw kerf. After aligning it, I have finally got it to cut right on the left laser guide. (Posted on 5/8/2015)

I was replacing a non-sliding compound miter saw for a few reasons. I wanted something more accurate, and I needed more capacity (sliding). I've been satisfied with other festool tools so decided to spend the premium to get this saw. So far I've built several shelving units with the saw and it has been great. was setup accurate out of the box with no adjustment, the left laser was right on, the right will need to be adjusted but I haven't done that yet. Have it hooked to a CT36 dust collection. I also used the ability to set the blade height to make some lap joints and it isn't as good as a table saw and dado blade but it works well enough for my use cases (the bottom of the cut will end up a little rough). The KAPEX is a work of art from a functional perspective. Each of the features works just as described in the great Festool videos. I have used many other miter saws, but none can come close to the quality of the KAPEX.

In conjunction with the dust extractor it is a pleasure to operate. There is still some large sawdust chunks, but the dust is really gone. I have shown it to numerous other woodworkers and they are just amazed! (Posted on 1/19/2015)

I just got the kapex miter saw. It is as good as everything I have heard about it. It is bigger and beefier than my old saw and the fence is taller and easy to adjust. I just love all the little adjustments that it has like the variable speed, the micro angle adjusting knob, the quick work piece clamp, the laser adjustment, and the removable angle finder which I used the other day to measure a angle for a board I had to cut to help hang a wall cabinet in my work shop. It's like all the other festools I own they are the best.I plan on buying the 1400 router next. Can't wait. (Posted on 1/14/2015)

Kapex miter saw
This saw replaces a DeWalt 705 miter saw. No comparison. The festool exceeded all of my expectations. Although pricey, the kapex is much quieter allowing me to begin work earlier in the morning and also later at night. The kapex comes with and angle finder and clamp hold down. The clamp is great and easy to use. Thus it will be used always. Although the angle finder is also very good and I love that it stores on the saw, when the miter saw is turned to 45 degrees the angle finder is in the way which is a minor inconvenience. In terms of dust collection, it is absolutely wonderful. Connected to a vacuum, dust is about 90-95% eliminated and the remaining % is closely contained. Performance: in less than 5 minutes, I cut board to simulate making a picture frame using both right and left 45 degree miter angles. Those cuts came out perfectly with one cut being off one time due to my learning curve in regard to reading the laser line cutting point, which was simple to correct. To put this in a more functional reviews. My wife was afraid to use the DeWalt miter saw due to noise, dust, and danger. She enjoyed cutting with the kapex. My wife although hesitant about the price of the kapex has now given her blessing to continue to purchase festools due to the quality, dust collection, noise reduction, and especially the safety.

There's just about working with high-end tools that makes the task at hand more enjoyable and this miter saw is definitely top of the line. I built a high-end bar in my home with this saw from door stiles/rails, drawer fronts, bar rail to crown with such precision and ease. Although, I'm old school when it comes to lining up the blade to the pencil mark, I found the laser to be right-on. No doubt an expensive saw, but coupled with the UG Kapex Mobile Stand, you essentially have an awesome production saw with a go anywhere ability.

I have been looking at getting this saw for the past year. I've read a lot of reviews and did a lot of research. The end result: it is SIMPLY AWESOME! Having said that I could see a trim carpenter who mainly does standard mouldings like casing, base, and room crown, not to find the value of spending this kind of money on a saw. I do high end kitchens and custom built-ins. When working with pre-finished hardwood, the accuracy that this saw provides is priceless to me. This is the main reason I was attracted to this saw, but its all the features put together that really make this the best saw I've ever owned. I currently have the newest version Dewalt 12" sliding saw and newest version Makita 10" sliding saw. So, it's not like have have crappy saws that I'm comparing to this new awesomeness.
